Goondiwindi is a town on the MacIntyre River in Queensland, Australia. It is located near the New South Wales border and about 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) north-west of Boggabilla in New South Wales. The name Goondiwindi comes from an Aboriginal word with goondi indicating droppings or dung and windi indicating duck, probably connected with the roosting place on a large rock in the Macintyre River. The name was first used for a pastoral run in the area.
